PRINCE & HIS VAULT
The Legacy 0f Prince Left Behind Over 2,000 Songs
While Prince may be gone, that does not mean the new music has to stop coming. According to Hunting For Prince’s Vault, a documentary created by the BBC that sought to unearth just how much music the star had sitting around that, even his biggest fans had never had a chance to enjoy, there are thousands of songs that the public had not heard yet.
With the passing of Prince, many longtime fans are wondering just how deep his catalog of unreleased music really stretches. While The Purple One certainly maintained his archives with close scrutiny, investigative reports have only scratched the surface of this treasure trove.

PRINCE IN THE VAULT
Previously Unreleased Tracks

There might be a lot of music that could be released, but nobody knows if or when any of it will see the light of day. Prince did not leave a will, and members of his family might be gearing up for what could be a contentious legal battle over his valuable estate. Until there is someone that can sign off on all decisions relating to what happens to his brand now that he is gone, there might not be new music for some time.
Whether this is true or if Prince was able to keep up his release schedule even after passing is yet to be seen, but even the prospect of that much musical sounds is waiting to be enjoyed is certainly exciting.

Mobeen Azhar
According to filmmaker Mobeen Azhar, “there is enough unreleased studio material for him to put out an album a year for the next 100 years.”
For his documentary, journalist and filmmaker Mobeen Azhar spoke to people connected to the legendary performer, including fellow musicians, engineers, and even those that worked on his management team and a woman who helped him organize his musical material, and they all back up the rumors that there are literally thousands of recordings that Prince never allowed out of the vault for one reason or another.
In addition to studio recordings, the vault is also said to contain several music videos (some for songs that were also never released) and two full-length films. While he was primarily known as a musician, Prince also made a name for himself as an actor in films like Purple Rain. It’s tough to believe that there are movies featuring the Purple One that he never shared, but if anybody would do such a thing, it would be Prince.

‘Prince 4Ever,’ a new Prince compilation
was released in November 2016
Late Thursday night, Warner Bros. Records announced the impending release of two new Prince projects that will include previously unheard material from his legendary archives. They will be the first official Prince albums issued since his death in April.
First up is Prince 4Ever, a new 40-song compilation that includes his biggest hits and best-known songs from his Warner Bros. days, which ended in 1996. The track list includes When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Let’s Go Crazy, Kiss, Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret and Alphabet Street.
It also features Batdance, a single that never appeared on a Prince compilation during his lifetime, as well as Moonbeam Levels, a song he recorded in 1982 during sessions for the 1999 album. It’s never been officially released, but is well-known enough among fans that Elvis Costello covered it live at a Prince tribute concert in 2013.
Warner Bros. also announced the Purple Rain deluxe reissue — first promised in 2014 to coincide with the album’s 30th anniversary — will finally see the light of day early next year. It will feature a second album of unreleased songs, with further details to be announced.
