3rd - Shecky & The Twangtones  Off Key Tiki  Patchogue, NY

Get in the Holiday Groove with Shecky & The Tangtones' pre-july 4th dance party event at this charming Caribbean Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge. Shecky & The Twangtones will be serving up plenty of retro surf,reggae & soul jam music for one and all!  Weather permitting, the band will be set up outside on the fabled Tiki Stage.  Showtime: 5 pm - 9 pm.

3rd - Danny Kean Band  Monsky Field  Northport, NY

Danny Kean and his combo perform as part of this popular Summer Concert Series for veterans and the community hosted by the Northport VA Medical Center and sponsored by the Northport American Legion, Post 694.  This year, concerts will he held at a new location, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday at Monsky Field. In the event of inclement weather, the concerts will be held on the Monsky Field portico.  Admission is free.


5th - Annie Mark & Chris James  / The Hank Stone Band

Happenings On Main Street Fest  Northport, NY

Storytellers is a conceptual collective of musicians, artists, and poets, consisting of two basses, drums, & a heavy dose of improvisational channeling at its core. The band focuses on creating extended pieces devoted to painting a picture explicitly through mindful listening, combining elements taken from jazz, hip-hop, progressive, neo-soul, classical, world music, film scores, indie, r&b, electronic & more.  Showtime: 7 pm - 11 pm.

Journey down to this cool art galley and catch an evening of The Classical Music of North India as performed by Dee Harris {Indian Slide Guitar) and Viral Pandya (Tabla).  Dee and Viral will perform and speak about the inner workings of Raga ( melody ) and tal ( time cycle ).  This will be a rare glimpse into this complex music form during which you will hear a very rare morning raga as well as ragas performed only for afternoon and evening.  Showtime: 7 pm - 9 pm.

14th - Peter Mazzeo  Del Vino Vineyards  Northport, NY

Peter Mazzeo made a splash when he arrived on the scene in the mid-1980's as his band played to backed houses almost from the first day. "I thought Blue Eyed Soul was a good name for the band, which focused on performing both rock and soul songs," he recalled during a recent interview. "Combined with a wireless mic and a love for including the audience in our show, it separated us from the pack."  Showtime: 1 pm - 5 pm.

17th - The Art of Jazz  The Jazz Loft  Stony Brook, NY

At this collaborative event between two not-for-profit organizations, artists are welcomed to gather and draw along or simply watch as James Beihl does a digital demo of graphic coloration. Enjoy watching his progress projected on a large screen while listening to live improv jazz by the Jazz Loft Jam Band. Materials are not provided. Kate Usher & The Sturdy Souls is an alternative soul pop rock band formed in Montauk, New York led by lead singer Kate Usher & multi-instrumentalist, Kevin Angiulo . Now in its 13th year, The Great South Bay Music Festival is the longest running, Music Festival on Long Island. 18th - Pete Mancini & The Hillside Airmen  Alive On 25 Street Festival  Riverhead, NY

.This is the first installment of The Friday Night Tea Party, a new songwriter series at Swing The Teapot that is curated by Alan Semerdjian.  A featured local/regional songwriter performs originals and choice covers for the first set at 9 pm and is followed by Alan for the second set of the evening. The goal is to create cross-pollination of music lovers and support a terrific venue that believes in original live music. July’s feature is the wildly innovative guitarist and songwriter Neil Cavanagh. There is no charge for the show. 27th - The Hideaways  Charlotte's Speakeasy  Farmingdale, NY

The Hideaways, who have been making some waves with their new album The Lost Tapes Vol 1, return to this historic venue that was once an actual speakeasy during the Prohibition era.  For those who are not familiar with Charlotte’s Speakeasy: In keeping with the old-timey Speakeasy tradition, in order to get into the club, you will need to grab the “password of the week” which is available on the venue's website...ooh la la!.  Doors open at 7 pm, and it is suggested to come early; the place is small and they only let 125 people in at a time.  Showtime: 8 pm - Midnight


27th - Finn Fest  Island Park, NY

The Finn Fest is a music and comedy festival with three stages of music and comedy held at Island Park Beach (Masone), 32 Waterford Rd., Island Park, NY (just off Long Beach Rd.). The list of musical performers includes Grammy winning ReBirth Brass Band, The The Band Band , Half Step Band , Mountain Jam Orchestra, Dave Kellen band , Wine with Sue , Breakaway , So Was Red , Studio Noir Jazztet, Mook Justice , DJ Kahuna , Arturo Rivera , Dueling Pianos with John Arden .  Three stages of bands and comics, craft beer, good food and vendors!  The grounds will be tented, and the festival is a rain or shine event. Free shuttles will run throughout the day and night from Long Beach. The property is also accessible by boat, train & bike.  The fun starts at 1 pm!

I had never heard of this rock quartet before so when I went to their Facebook Band Page to find out more about them; while there, I saw that they describe d their music genre in the following way: "If The Ramones and Miles Davis had a baby".  Sounds good to me!  Showtime: 8 pm - 10 pm.
